MARTHA CATHERINE JOHNSON

Martha Catherine Johnson, 91, of Rainycrest Long Term Care, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Martha was born Jan. 22, 1918 in Punnichy, Sask. to the late Steven and Martha Nemeth. She moved to Arbor Vita, Ont. in 1934, where she lived until moving to Fort Frances in 1972.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and the Catholic Women’s League. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, and curling.
Left to cherish her memory is her granddaughter, Kathy Wakefield (Mike) of Thunder Bay, Ont., and her great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Christopher, and Melanie; her grandson, Gary (Julie) Gaudry of Hubley, N.S. and their children, Rebecca and Mark.
Also surviving are three great-great-grandchildren, Victoria, Austyn, and Jaydn; her sisters, Betty Huntley of Fort Frances, Ont. and Helen Hallack of Winnipeg, Man.; her brother, Joe Nemeth of Winnipeg, Man.; sisters-in-law, Christina Nemeth of Tawassen, B.C., Dorothy Nemeth of Stonewall, Man., and Mary Peterson of Dryden, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Martha was united in marriage on June 12, 1937 to Alrick Johnson, who predeceased her on April 3, 1987.
She also was predeceased by her only daughter, Eleanore Gaudry on March 7, 1973; her parents, Steven and Martha Nemeth; brothers, John and Steve Nemeth; and sister, Mary Walter.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Fr. Francis Pudicherry will officiate, followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 at Green Funeral Home.
