MARLENE RUBY GOULIQUER

After a courageous battle with cancer, Marlene Gouliquer (nee King) passed away at the Emo Hospital on Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998 in her 60th year.
Marlene was born in the family home in Stratton, Ont. on Feb. 1, 1938, the second oldest daughter of Gwen and the late Allan King. She attended the Pattulo and Fort Frances High School.
She was married Nov. 2, 1956 and farmed in the Township of Nelles, where Marlene lived until April, 1998. She then moved to care for her mother until her own health failed.
She enjoyed the farm life, growing a good garden, beautiful flowers, and spending time with her many friends. She was a member of the Stratton United Church, the Moose Lodge Baudette Chapter, and the square dance club.
She also held the position of secretary for the Nelles Local Roads Board for 38 years.
She leaves to mourn her mother, Gwen King of Stratton; and sisters, Beverley (George) Hyatt of Devlin, Elaine (Garry) Desserre, June (Ron) Desserre, Carol (Russel) Willis, and Doreen (Glen) Wrolstad of Dryden; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Allan King, in 1957.
Memorial services were held Monday, Jan. 4, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Way Roman Catholic Church in Pinewood, Ont., with Pastor Pat White and Rev. Barb Miller officiating.
Interment will follow at a later date in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River.
Honourary pallbearers were her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the Stratton United Church or the Emo Hospital.
