Mark Nolan Nelson, born August 8, 1954, to Fran and Hank Nelson, sadly passed away on July 30, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mark played football for the Fort Frances Muskies while in high school and was a diehard Viking fan. He loved the outdoors and spent lots of time hunting and fishing and trapping. As a young man Mark worked for the M.N.R for a few years, then for Boise Cascade until the strike, then for Varque Contractors cutting and skidding wood.
Mark moved to Palmer, Alaska, 20 years ago and worked as a custodian at a high school until he retired in 2019.
He is survived by his brother Wade (Marlene); nephew Kirk (Stacy); Derek (Missy); great-nephews Connor, Kaden and Kale; great-niece Kennedy; brother August (Mike); sister Cindy (Gary) Korpi; nephew Luke (Mercede); great-nieces Presley and Ember; brother Erick (Edna); nephew Gary (Justine); and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was predeceased by his mom and dad, Fran and Hank. Mark will be laid to rest at the Box Alder cemetery next to his mom and dad.
