Marjorie Christina Martin, 85, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Sunday, April 12, 1998. She was born July 19, 1912 in Devlin, Ont. to the late John and Olive Matheson.
Mrs. Martin had lived in the Rainy River District all her life, mostly in Emo, Ont. for 58 years. She was a member of Knox United Church and the U.C.W. in Emo, a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Emo, and the Emo Curling Club. She enjoyed reading and playing cards.
Marjorie was united in marriage Oct. 24, 1931 to Theodore Martin, who predeceased her Nov. 1, 1970. She also was predeceased by a daughter, Jean on Jan. 8, 1941; and a son, Bryce, on March 25, 1939.
She is survived by her son, Peter, and wife, Myrna, of Toronto, Ont.; and grandchildren, Murray and wife, Prem, and their sons, Collin, Devin, and Sean, of Calgary, Alta., and Karen of Toronto, Ont.
Also surviving is her sister, Jean Smith, of Fort Frances, Ont.; and her brother, Robert Matheson and wife Rita, of Calgary, Alta.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Friday, April 17, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Knox United Church in Emo with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Cremation took place in Thunder Bay, Ont., with interment in Devlin Cemetery in Devlin, Ont. at a later date.
