MARGUERITE PENNEY

Mrs. Marguerite Penney, 96, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001 at Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born Oct. 26, 1904 to the late James and Margaret Armstrong in Chapple Township, Ont.
Marguerite married the late George Penney in May, 1925 and together they had 10 children. She lived most of her life in the Stratton area, moved to Flinders Apartments in Fort Frances in her later years, and then to Rainycrest Home for the Aged.
Marguerite’s main interest was caring for her family and she enjoyed family gatherings. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Stratton, holding various offices in the Catholic Women’s League, including president.
She also was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Fort Frances.
Marguerite enjoyed good health for many years, was independent, enjoyed meeting people, and had a great sense of humour. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Marguerite is survived by six sons, Edward (Peigi) of Goderich, Ont., Frank (Merle) of Lethbridge, Alta., Bill (Betty) of Stratton, Ont., Greg (Donna) of Fort Frances, Ont., Leo (Bonnie) of Fort Frances, Ont., and Don of Atikokan, Ont.; three daughters, Pat (Butch) Mosley of Fort Frances, Ont., Lucille (John) Audette of Fort Frances, Ont., and Marie (Norman) Duhamel of Dryden, Ont.; and daughter-in-law, Lurie Penney of Sydney, B.C.
She also is survived by four brothers, Melvin, Sylvester, Terry, and Bob Armstrong; one sister, Betty Lauzon; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marguerite was predeceased by her husband, George and son, Philip; three brothers, Eddie, Leo, and Joe Armstrong; and four sisters, Sadie Ross, Bernadette Duaphinais, Rita Miller, and Vera Armstrong.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Way Roman Catholic Church in Pinewood, Ont. Father James Panikulam officiated, with interment in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Stratton.
Friends visited with the family Monday evening, Jan. 8, 2001 at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m., with Father Eugene Whyte O.M.I. officiating.
Pallbearers were sons-in-law, John Audette and Norm Duhamel, brothers, Melvin Armstrong and Sylvester Armstrong, and grandsons, Richard Duhamel and Michael Mosley.
