Margaret Karen Canfield passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born in Fort Frances on Nov. 15, 1925 to Franz and Britta Engstrom. Margaret lived in the Fort Frances area most of her life.
On April 15, 1948, she married Glenn Canfield and raised a family, Richard, Donald, and Ellen. She became a grandmother to 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Margaret loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed the activities of her grandchildren. She also loved gardening, and living by the lake gave her an exceptional opportunity to observe and appreciate nature.
Margaret leaves behind her husband, Glenn; children, Richard and wife, Elaine (nee Perron), and their children, Juliet, Melanie, Daniel, Steven, and Laura; Donald and his wife, Debbie (nee Haw), and their children Michael, Chad, and Megan; and Ellen and husband, Peter Gagne, and children, Jessica Pearson and Samantha Pearson.
Margaret also is survived by sisters, Ellie Zub of Fort Frances, Doris (Larry) Calder of Oregon, and Mabel (El) Plymate of Chicago City, Mn; and brother, Enar (Carol) Engstrom of Transcona, Man.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 5, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Frances, with Pastor Brian Keffer officiating.
Cremation took place in Thunder Bay, Ont.
