Margaret Jean Westover, formerly of Sioux Narrows, Ont., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, at the Rainy River Health Centre in Rainy River, Ont.
She was born July 27, 1927 to Roy and Edna (nee Meyers) Westover in Barwick, Ont.
One of 10 children, Margaret grew up on a farm where she learned to love animals but not farming. Instead, she chose to become a beautician and worked in Fort Frances, Thunder Bay, and Sioux Narrows.
She was known for her perfect hair-do and stylish clothes. She also was very crafty and generous with her many talents, often doing hair for senior ladies, etc.
Marg was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Don (Jessie), Billy, Roy, Ron, Fred, and Jim; sisters, Helen (Irwin) Pretty and Iva Nugent-Olson (Erling); and sister-in-law, Ann Westover.
She is survived by her brother, Milt Westover; and sisters-in-law, Marg Westover and Donna Westover.
While Auntie Marg had no children of her own, she leaves many nieces and nephews with fond memories of being thrown in the lake and listening to her witty remarks.
She was an outspoken woman who enjoyed dancing and living life to the fullest.
In her younger years, she spent many summers working at Plummer’s Great Bear Lake Lodge, above the Arctic Circle.
She and Warren Plummer travelled the world and spent most of their winters in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. In later years, she spent her winters in Brandon, Fla. but she always returned to Sioux Narrows for the summer.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont.
Interment was in the Barwick Cemetery, with lunch afterwards.
The pallbearers were Leland Westover, Brent Westover, Tim Olson, Cliff Westover, Larry Fadden, and Chris Fadden.
