Sadly, the family announces the passing of Margaret Peterson, 92, of Rainy River, Ont. on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Rainy River Health Centre in Rainy River.
Margaret was born on April 24, 1924 in Rainy River to Arthur and Margaret Ricci.
She was united in marriage to Roy Moen in 1943.
Margaret worked at numerous jobs, including camp cook and bookkeeper at Bear Island, post office clerk in Morson, and clerical work at the Town of Rainy River.
She enjoyed sewing and knitting, and always had those needles on the go. As well, she liked gardening and was tough on weeds.
Margaret also enjoyed travelling and keeping John happy by cooking his favourite dishes.
After Roy’s passing in 1974, Margaret met John Peterson and they were married on Oct. 13, 1979.
Margaret will be greatly missed by her children, Lennie (Joanne) Moen of Morson, Ont., and Kari Jewett and Doug (Donna) Moen, all of Rainy River, Ont.; step-children, Russell (Susie) Peterson, Charles Peterson, and Polly Norton; grandchildren, Jeff (Kyla) Moen, Jason Moen, Lennie (Tracy) Moen, Bev Noga, Kelly (Jeff) Smith, and Jamie Jewett; and great-grandchildren, Kendra, Justin, Shauna, Logan, Jordyn, Kellan, Baylen, Emma, and Carson.
Margaret also is survived by her brothers, Lenard Ricci and Earl (Liz) Ricci; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Margaret Ricci; husbands, Roy Moen (1974) and John Peterson (2016); and sisters, Lois Helder, Shirley Bell, and Phyllis Kreger.
A time of fellowship in Margaret’s memory will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Rainy River Evangelical Covenant Church in Rainy River.
Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
