Margaret Edith (Cooke) Weatherbee, 94, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Margaret was born on May 15, 1922 in Devlin, Ont., and was raised on the family farm.
She was hard-working and had a kind heart.
In 1951, she married Morley Weatherbee, her husband of 60 years. They raised their family together as they worked in Abitibi camps before moving to Thunder Bay, where they kept busy with their boys’ hockey and baseball.
Margaret will be sadly missed by her sons, Gary Lindquist (Glenna), and Robert (Karen) and Jake (Barb) Weatherbee.
Her proudest role was as Grandma to her beloved grandchildren, Gary Jr. (Kristy), Mark (Vanessa), Tanner (Michelle), and Sara, and great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Jack, and Margaret.
Spending time with them and keeping up with their lives brought her great joy.
She was predeceased by her husband, Morley; parents, George and Annie Cooke; brother, Leonard Cooke; sister, Jean (Wallace “Bubs” Hughes); granddaughter, Shayne; and brother-in-law, Ted Davis.
She is survived by her sisters, Lois (Wilfred Caul) and Fay Davis; brother, David (Clareen) Cooke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Margaret’s wishes, a private service for immediate family will be held following cremation.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 2-6 p.m. in the Tower Room at Waverley Park Towers in Thunder Bay.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the St. Joseph’s Foundation or George Jeffrey Children’s Centre would be appreciated.
