MARGARET ANDRES

Margaret Andres, 76, of 339 Third St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Margaret was born June 7, 1922 in Theodore, Sask. In 1923, she moved with her family to Fort Frances.
Margaret worked as a local telephone operator with the Town of Fort Frances, then with Bell telephone until the 1950s. She then was employed with the Red Cross as a home care supervisor from the 1970s until her retirement in 1988.
Margaret enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends, especially with her granddaughters.
She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Dora Wihnan; sisters, Ann Armstrong and Mary Domish; and brothers, John and Bill Wihnan.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Lesley Andres of Vancouver, B.C., and Julie and husband, David Crichton; granddaughters, Claire and Alex Crichton; sisters, Sandra and husband, “Doc” Johnson, and Sophie and husband, Peter Ballan; brother, Nick Wihnan and wife, Olga, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
A memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 25, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Pastor Dave Gallas officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Honourary pallbearers were Marg Agar, Edie Brown, Bertha Ossachuk, Jean Eisenzoph, Terry Stuart, Mildred Ouellette, Shirley Brown, Betty Brown, Dorleen Toffan, Ruth McHarg, Elva Ossachuk, and Doris Ferguson.
