Margaret Agnes Livingston passed in the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, surrounded by her family and close friends, at the Rainy River Health Centre in Rainy River, Ont.
“Peggy” was born March 31, 1925 in Carnduff, Sask. to Joseph and Agnes Little.
Peggy trained to become a teacher in Moose Jaw, Sask. She taught in small country schools in Saskatchewan and later in Rainy River District.
She also was an active volunteer in the Rainy River Royal Canadian Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary, Rainy River Hospital Auxiliary, Women’s Institute, and Knox United Church in Rainy River.
Peggy’s favourite hobby was quilting, with a close second being scrapbooking. Every family member has received one of her hand-crafted quilts.
She also will be remembered for her beautiful penmanship, dedication to community service, and love of teaching children.
Peggy will be lovingly remembered by her children, Les (Rosalind) of Keewatin, Ont., Betty (Greg) Guenin of Aberdeen, S.D., Bonny Hodgins (late Gerry) of Newington, Ont., and Monica (Bob) Seguin of Quesnel, B.C.; grandchildren, Michelle Livingston (Dustin Shore), Blair Livingston, and Julia Livingston, Terre Guenin, Andrea Hodgins (Jeff Ault), Matthew (Jackie) Hodgins, and Mark Hodgins, and Nicole (Jacob) Hunter, Yvonne Seguin, and Raeley Seguin; and great-grandchildren, Victoria Guenin and Jaden Shore.
Peggy also is survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy Larke; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close members of the Penner and Hughes families.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Elgin (1985); parents, Joseph and Agnes Little; infant sister, Jean; brothers, Jim (Audry) and Willy Little; son-in-law, Gerry Hodgins; and special friend, Wallace “Bubs” Hughes.
A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Knox United Church in Rainy River, with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Interment will take place in Blue Cemetery at a later date.
Following the service, the family invites everyone to share stories and memories at a luncheon at the Legion in Rainy River.
