Maj. (Ret.) Dennis Joseph “Joe” Howes, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010.
Loving husband to Jeanine (MJ) Howes (nee Schwarz); dear father of Bradly (Pauline nee Keating), Rodney (Brenda nee Luykx), Jeffrey (Belinda nee Roussel), and Trevor (Carole nee Brazeau); and very dear grandfather to Kieran, Mikaela, Thea, Chloe, Juliane, Pascal, and Audree.
Brother to the late Duane (Sandie nee Maybe) of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and brother-in-law to Jeannot Schwarz (Danielle) of Thionville, France.
Beginning his life in Fort Frances, Ont., Dennis entered the military and served more than 37 years with the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), taking him and his family to many countries in Europe and cities in North America.
Upon retiring in 1994, Ottawa became his last hometown with his family near.
Friends paid respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 2370 St-Joseph Blvd., Orleans, Ont., on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 from 6-9 p.m.
Funeral service was Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 in the Chapel at 11 a.m.
In memoriam donations may be made to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
