Madeline Holt, 76, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osbourne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998,
She was born June 27, 1922 in Thunder Bay, Ont. to the late William and Lucy Vale.
In her earlier years, Madeline had served with the Royal Canadian Navy in Canada. In 1950, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Holt. Madeline had lived many years in Fort Frances, and prior to her retirement had worked for the Town of Fort Frances.
She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29, life member of the Royal Canadian Navy Service, and a member of St. John’s Anglican Church in Fort Frances.
She was predeceased by her husband, William “Bill” Holt in 1968; two sisters, Marion on Sept. 17, 1983, and Peggy; and one brother, Gordon Vale.
Madeline is survived by one son, John Holt and wife, Sandra, and two granddaughters, Carly and Kimberly, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; and by family members in Thunder Bay, Ont.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998 at 1 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 in Fort Frances, with Legion chaplain Rev. Patrick Playfair officiating.
Interment will take place at a later time in Mountain View Cemetery in Thunder Bay, Ont.
