Mabel Melvina Glueheisen, 102, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2003 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
She was born in Webster, Wis. on Aug. 12, 1901 to Anna and Oscar Pratt. She married Ralph Marsh on Nov. 15, 1919. She had worked in tourist resorts for some years.
On Nov. 25, 1927, she married Bill Glueheisen and they moved to Clearwater Lake, Emo, Ont. Together they owned and operated Voyageur’s Lodge for 37 years. They later moved to Fort Frances.
She enjoyed the outdoor life, especially fishing, hunting, and gardening.
Mabel is survived by her sons, Murtis (Mary) Marsh of International Falls, Mn., and Milton (Betty) Glueheisen of Fort Frances, Ont. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Lee, Larry, Leonard, Lance, Gary, and Diane; 12 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph Marsh; her second husband, Bill Glueheisen; her parents, Anna and Oscar Pratt; and three brothers, George, Charlie, and Renaldo.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Pastor Ken Johnson officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends visited Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Green Funeral Home.
The pallbearers were Lee Glueheisen, Larry Glueheisen, Len Glueheisen, Lance Glueheisen, Gary Marsh, and Kasie Mardas.
