MABEL AMANDA HELE

Mabel Amanda Hele, 83, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998.
Mabel was born April 1, 1915 to the late Carl and Ida Bebee. She lived most of her life in the North Branch area.
Mabel was united in marriage to “Bill” Hele on Nov. 11, 1938 and settled in North Branch, where together they farmed and raised their family until 1972 when they moved to Barwick.
Mabel opened and operated her own upholstery business in Barwick until 1985. In 1986, she moved to Fort Frances but in 1989, she moved to Emo until 1995, when she returned to Fort Frances, where she resided until her passing.
Mabel also operated Youngs’ Tourist Camps in Nestor Falls with her husband. She also was a past member of the North Branch Women’s Institute.
She was predeceased by her husband, William George “Bill” Hele (June 20, 1981); two daughters, Ida (1944), and Marlene (1948); two brothers, Earl and Wesley Bebee; and sister-in-law, Mary Bebee.
Mabel is survived by her son, Keith and wife, Betty, of Kenora. Ont.; daughter, Gwen and husband, Harold Ogier, of Fort Frances, Ont.; three grandchildren, Charlene and husband, Bill Hamilton, of Dryden, Ont. and their children, Kyla and Jorden, Loretta Hele and fiance, Brad, and their son, Ashton, and Colette Hele and fiance, Rick Hunt, all of Thunder Bay, Ont.
Also surviving are four brothers, Kenneth Bebee of Atikokan, Ont., Bud (Leroy) Bebee and wife, Lillian of Toronto, Ont., Marion Bebee of Fort Frances, Ont., and Arthur Bebee of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Donna Kearney of B.C., and Verda Foeller of Orangeville, Ont.; sister-in-law Ruth Bebee of Red Lake, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Green’s Funeral Home. Rev. Patrick Flayfair officiated, with interment in Pineridge Cemetery in North Branch.
