M.G. (BUZZ) McCOMB

Buzz was born July 1, 1921 in Emo to the late Edward and Ella McComb (Shortreed). He attended Emo Public and Emo Continuation schools, and the Lakehead Training and Re-Establishment Institute.
He had held numerous positions and served on several boards in the community, including secretary and secretary-treasurer of Lash # 5 and Emo District School Boards, the Rainy River District Municipal Union, Northwest Ontario Municipal Association, and the Emo-Devlin-La Vallee United Church Pastoral Charge.
He also served as clerk-treasurer for the Township of Emo from 1953-86 and as an insurance agent from 1958-74.
He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942, completing 32 operations as a wireless gunner overseas with the 419 (Moose) Squadron.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #99 in Emo and Knox United Church in Emo, as was a Past Master of the Emo Masonic Lodge (Manitou #631).
Buzz was united in marriage on June 9, 1948 to the former Louise Cawston, who survives along with their sons, Murray (Diane) of Ottawa, Ont. and Frank (Penny) of Fort Frances, Ont.
Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Andrew McComb (Jessica Hazel) and Sarah McComb (Jon Galbraith), all of Fort Frances, Ont., and Jessie and Ali McComb of Ottawa, Ont.; one great-grandson, Landen Grant McComb; one sister, Ella Angus of Thunder Bay, Ont.; two sisters-in-law, Bessie McComb and Cecilia McComb, both of Emo, Ont.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Graydon, Elwood, and Thompson; sister, Norma Duncan; and an infant sister, Margaret.
A celebration of his life was held Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Knox United Church in Emo, with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Interment will take place in the Emo Cemetery at a later date.
