LYLE VERNON ARMSTRONG

On Friday, April 7, 2006, Lyle Vernon Armstrong went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ.
Lyle was born Nov. 8, 1948 in Fort Frances, Ont. to George and Kirsti Armstrong. As a young man he had many passions, from airplanes and horses to art and music, which continued throughout his life.
After diabetes took his pilot’s licence, he turned to other adventures, including James Bay Store and Steakhouse, U-pick strawberries, a home builder, property developer, and landlord.
He met the love of his life, Cheryl (nee Anderson), whom he married on June 29, 1974 and together they raised their daughter, Faith, who was the light of his life.He was the rock that united his family, which included his son-in-law, Peter Moen. His favourite pastime was being with his family. Lyle loved to create and be surrounded by artwork. His talent shone forth as he taught himself to play the piano. He also loved to recite favourite verses from the Bible. His main focus in his life, apart from his family, was his tremendous faith, which was part of their family life.
He realized his lifelong wish of visiting Israel shortly before his passing.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Cheryl; daughter, Faith and son-in-law, Peter; special friend, Hope Wilson; sisters, Lorraine (Bill Elliott) and Kathi (Jeff ); and brothers, Larry (Mitzi) and Jim.
He also is survived by his parents-in-law, Ron and Elaine Anderson; brothers-in-law, Blair and Doug Anderson (Annie); as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Kirsti Armstrong; and niece Allison Armstrong. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Frances, from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor Brian Keffer offi ciating.
Pallbearers will be Blair Anderson, Doug Anderson, Jorma Johnson, Vernon Yerxa, Delbert Ross, and Bill Whalen.
