LYLE KELLAR

It is with great sadness that the family of Lyle Kellar announces his passing on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005 with his family by his side.
Lyle was born Aug. 23, 1936 in Emo, Ont. to the late Neil and Stella Kellar.
As a young man, Lyle ventured to northern Labrador, where he worked and gained the experience and knowledge of craning, which later enabled him to acquire his hoisting licence.
During this time, he met and married Marlene Cunningham in 1956. Together they settled in Devlin, Ont.
He purchased his first crane in 1978 and did what he loved until his retirement in 1997.
He was a man who relished a challenge and always was trying something new. From stock car racing to chariot racing to flying, he was never idle. He drilled water wells, moved houses, and worked on many construction projects throughout the district and surrounding area.
He also was an avid hunter, and fall weekends were reserved for hunting.
As his family grew, the phrase “Grandpa” always brought a smile to his face, and not too many summer weekends were missed without one or more grandchildren in tow at their summer cottage at Big Sawbill Lake.
He was predeceased by parents, Neil and Stella Kellar; brothers, Arthur Kellar, Gordon Kellar, and Stewart Kellar; and sisters, Florence Hastie, Nora Almskog, and Jessie Rose.
Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marlene; son, Dean and wife, Kim, of Devlin, Ont.; grandchildren, Mike (Brenda) Kellar, Carrie Kellar (Jason Happy), Terry Kellar, and Mark Kellar, all of Fort Frances, Ont., and Alexander (A.J.) Kellar of Devlin, Ont.; great-grandchildren, Brett, Talyssa, Sierra, Zakary, and Paige; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial luncheon was held Monday, Jan. 2, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Devlin Community Hall in Devlin.
At Lyle’s request, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held later.
The honourary pallbearers were all of Lyle’s family and friends.
