LYLE DON MORKEN

It is with great sadness that the family of Lyle Don Morken announces his passing on Wednesday, April 28, 2004.
Lyle was born Oct. 20, 1973 in Emo, Ont. He attended school in Barwick, Fort Frances, and Kenora, Ont., and graduated from Beaver Brae Secondary School in Kenora.
Lyle was a licensed truck driver employed in the road construction industry, and was working for Harold McQuaker Enterprises Ltd. of Emo.
He was predeceased by his father, Don Morken in 1978; grandfather, George Morken in 1984; and grandmother, Charlotte Morken in 1991.
Lyle leaves to mourn his mother, Shirley Morken; sister, Shari and brother-in-law, Joe Reynolds; grandparents, Alvin and Eileen Alexander, stepfather, William Mowe; and great aunts and uncles, Muriel Alexander, Shirley and Cecil Wilson, Evelyn and Eugene St. John, Vivian O’Donnell, Ken and Helen Oien, and June and Rae Robinson.
Lyle also leaves behind aunts and uncles, Charlie and Marie Morken, Eleanor and Melvin Morken, Evelyn and Ken Fisher, Lawrence and Manami Alexander, and Fred and Ruth Alexander.
Cousins include Murray, George, and Jul Morken, Angela and Keith Mose, Dean and Bobbi-Jo Morken, Shawna and Duane Masters, Chris Alexander, Charlene Fisher, Patty and Randy McNally, Kimika and Anika Alexander, and many others too numerous to mention.
Lyle also will be missed by his close friends, including Rachel Watts of Barwick, Ont.
Lyle was well-liked by many, and always had time for friends and family. He was very athletic, and enjoyed waterskiing and wakeboarding on Lake of the Woods and Rainy River, as well as downhill skiing and snowboarding.
Lyle was mechanically gifted and enjoyed the excitement of his snowmobiles, motorcycles, boats, and trucks.
Lyle also was a very talented, creative, and artistic person who left behind many beautiful paintings and drawings. He spent a lot of his spare time renovating his farm and farmhouse with his Uncle Melvin and Cousin Rodney, and enjoyed visiting over coffee with Auntie Moo.
Lyle appreciated the outdoors and the annual deer hunting excursions with his uncles and cousins. He often would be found at the residence of Charlie and Marie Morken helping out and having fun with the family.
Lyle will be dearly missed by all.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 6, 2004 at 2p.m. at the Stratton Millennium Hall in Stratton, Ont., with Richard Knight and David Jury officiating.
Pallbearers were Dave McKelvie, Ed Halvorsen, Brad Wise, John Burt, Ken Desserre Jr., and Kevin Armstrong.
Lyle’s final resting place is beside his father in the Stratton Municipal Cemetery.
