Lyla M. Golding, 64, passed away peacefully at McKellar Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont. on Friday, Jan. 22, 1999 surrounded by her family.
Lyla was born Aug. 11, 1934 in Dance Township (Rainy River District).
She worked as an RNA and was a member of the first graduating class of La Verendrye hospital in Fort Frances. Her main interests were her family and grandchildren.
Lyla was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Christina Steele; and brothers Don, Gary, and Bob Steele.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lorne; two daughters, Cheryl (Kevin) O’Donnell and Karen Golding (fiance Mark Henderson); son, Troy (Crystal) Golding; and two grandchildren, Duncan O’Donnell and Madison Golding.
Also surviving are brothers, Norman (Helen) Steele and Bill Steele, all of Atikokan, Ont.; sisters, Jean (Wes) Hayes of Fort Frances, Ont., Gladys (Maurice) Desserre of Emo, Ont., Margaret Larson of Kenora, Ont., and Laverne (Ken) Desserre of Stratton, Ont.; sisters-in-law, Sis Steele of Devlin, Luva Steele of Los Almitos, Cal., and Jean Steele of Emo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 11 a.m. at First United Church, with Rev. Joyce Fergus-Moore officiating.
