LUCY MARVELL PELTONEN

Lucy Marvell Peltonen (nee Hyatt), 65, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997 at her home in Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.
She was born May 19, 1932 in Emo, Ont. to the late John and Jessie Hyatt and grew up south of Devlin. Music was her passion, a love that lasted her whole life.
Lucy met and married Ed Peltonen on Nov. 28, 1953, and they raised their family in Crozier.
Lucy was a full-time homemaker and excellent at hospitality. During their marriage, large meals were always cooked “just in case” someone dropped in. No one who came by could leave without coffee and cake. Anyone who needed a helping hand could turn to her for aid and support.
Her children especially filled her life.
Surviving Lucy are three sons, Clancy (Janell) and children, Jade, Taryn, and Bryce, of Strathmore, Alta., Bob (Susan) and sons, Kurtis, Dan, and Charlie, of Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., and Wally (Rachel) of Fort McMurray, Alta.; three daughters, Sue (Bob) Deslauriers and children, James (Stacey) and David of Fort Saskatchewan, and Bob Jr. and Mila of Fort Frances, Ont., Amy (Ken) Boles and daughter, Raquel of Fort Frances, Ont., and Wanda Way, friend, Geof Bacon, and son, Nathan Way, of Tofino, B.C.
Also surviving are sisters, Irene Dorosh of Keremeos, B.C., Pheme Larsen of Geraldton, Ont., Ede Jeffrey of Dryden, Ont., Georgie of Calgary, Alta., Nell Primrose of Headley, B.C., and Maddy Gilbertson of Kenora, Ont., together with their husbands; brother, Bruce Hyatt of Truro, N.S. and his wife; and sisters-in-law, Bernice Hyatt and Marie Hyatt of Fort Frances, Ont., Lois Hyatt of Calgary, Alta., and Irene Elliott of Fort Frances, Ont.
She was predeceased by an infant son, David, in 1956; husband, Ed, in 1995; mother, Jessie, in 1988; father, John, in 1972; brothers, Bob, in 1986, Wilbur in 1987, and Garnet in 1993; father-in-law, Charlie, in 1968; mother-in-law, Emilia, in 1984; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Elliott, in 1982.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service was conducted by son-in-law, Bob Deslauriers, on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997 in Fort Saskatchewan.
