It is with great sadness that the family of Lucille Mary Audette, 82, of Fort Frances, Ont., announces her passing on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Lucille was born Sunday, March 23, 1930 in Stratton, Ont. to the late George and Marguerite Penney.
She had worked for a number of years as an RNA at La Verendrye General Hospital. She also was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
She enjoyed walking and painting, and was a kind, selfless, gentle, and caring person.
Lucille was united in marriage on Sept. 4, 1954 to John Audette, who survives along with their four children, Lynda (Nils) Wikner of Clayton, N.M., Cindy Gauthier of Fort Frances, Ont., Janice (Joe) Berger of Tampa, Fla., and Christopher of Calgary, Alta.
Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Christopher and Nicole Gauthier, Amanda (Wikner) Berry, and Savannah and Lianne Berger; and one great-grandchild, Ava Berry.
She also is survived by five brothers, Ed Penney, Greg (Donna) Penney, Billie (Betty) Penney, Frank (Merle) Penney, and Leo (Bonnie) Penney; two sisters, Marie (Norman) Duhamel and Pat (Butch) Mosley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Marguerite Penney; and two brothers, Phillip and Donny Penney.
A funeral mass to celebrate Lucille’s life was held Monday, May 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Francis Pudicherry officiating.
The honourary pallbearers were Betty McLeod, Doreen Fryer, Loretta Allan, Mabel Cyr, Marg Rousseau, Anna McNay, Paulette Devos, and Mary Chittock.
