Lucille “Lou” Lakatos, 71, of 1126 Second St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 at La Verendrye General Hospital. She was born July 31, 1930 in Pinewood, Ont.
“Lou” was dedicated to her family, and she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She enjoyed music and playing the piano. She also enjoyed bowling, helping with the Special Olympics, visiting at Sister Kennedy Centre, and playing Bingo.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
“Lou” was united in marriage Aug. 18, 1948 to Stephen Laka-tos, who predeceased her July 16, 1989. She also was predeceased by her parents, Odilon and Lea Legros.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana Lynn and husband, Ray Larocque, of Arnprior, Ont., and her son, Richard and wife, Joan, of Fort Frances, Ont.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Rae Lynn, Austin, Tara, Mindy, and Paige; five great-grandchildren, P.J., Christopher, Hollea, Brianne, and C.J.; two sisters, Janet Tymoshyk of Toronto, Ont., and Roma and husband, Cliff Larry, of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Eugene Whyte O.M.I. officiating.
Friends visited with the family Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002 at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with vigil prayers being offered at 7 p.m.
Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery beside her husband, Stephen, at a later date.
Honourary pallbearers were Ann-Marie Gouliquer, Faye McAllister, Angie Podgorski, Ann Onichuk, Shirley Dolph, and Aurise Gerhard.
