It is with great sorrow that the family announce the passing away of Lucien Eugene Lambert, 89, of Fort Frances on Sunday, March 10, 2002. He died peacefully with his family at his side.
Lucien was born June 30, 1912 in Pinewood, Ont., to Eugene and Delina Lambert. He spent most of his life in the Rainy River District. He was married to Margaret Gosselin on April 15, 1942. They began their married life in British Columbia and Manitoba returning to Fort Frances in 1945 where they have since resided.
Lucien was employed as a bodyman and mechanic in a number of local garages, Stewart Motors, McVeys, Newman’s and retired as a stationary engineer from the Couchiching Residential School.
Lucien enjoyed working on cars and took great pride in his work. He loved the outdoors and spent many pleasurable hours hunting, fishing and at his cabin. He was very proud to be Canadian and always kept up with current events.
Lucien was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Evelyn Tetreault; and his brothers, Fred and Adrian.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his children, Irene and Walter Laing of Winnipeg, Lucille Sameluk of Minneapolis, Dennis and wife, Judy Lambert of Fort Frances, Lorraine and Jim Klymko of Steinback, Janet Lambert of Fort Frances, and Elaine Danylchuk of Timmins; as well he leaves fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Denise Marshall of Fort St. John, B.C., and Jeanette Michaud of St. Malo, Man.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2002 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Father Eugene Whyte O.M.I. will officiate with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Vigil Prayers will be offered on Thursday, March 14, 2002 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church followed by visitation.
The pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Michael Salchert, Paul Semeluk, Tina Lambert, Kevin Lambert, Jennifer Klymko and Lisa Danylchuk.
