LOUISE LORNE McCOMB
Louise McComb, 79, of Emo, Ont., passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007 at the Emo Hospital in Emo.
She was born Aug. 7, 1927 in Barwick, Ont. to the late Murray and Ada
Cawston. Her family moved to Emo in the mid-1930s and she lived the rest of her life there.
She was a member of the Knox United Church in Emo, the United Church Women, and the United Church Choir. She also was the secretary/treasurer of the United Church Sunday School for more than 30 years and a member of the Emo and District Hospital Auxiliary.
She enjoyed curling, gardening, playing bridge, travelling, the weekly coffee break gang, and summers spent at their cabin on Clearwater Lake.
Louise had worked as a secretary at the Emo Hospital from 1969-86, when she took early retirement.
She was very proud of her four grandchildren and loved them, dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband, “Buzz” whom she married June 9, 1948. She also was predeceased by her parents and sister, Joan.
She is survived by her two sons, Murray (Diane) of Ottawa, Ont. and Frank (Penny) of Fort Frances, Ont.; four grandchildren, Andrew (Jessica) and Sarah (Jon) of Fort Frances, Ont., and Jessie and Ali McComb of Ottawa, Ont.; and one great-grandson, Landen.
Also surviving are three brothers, Mihlan and wife, Betty, and George and friend, Sandy, all of Fort Frances, Ont., and Linn and wife, Nicole, of Winnipeg, Man.; sister, Connie Hill of Emo, Ont.; and three sisters-in-law, Ella (Archie) Angus of Thunder Bay, Ont., Cecilia (Elwood) McComb of Emo, Ont., and Bessie (Thompson) McComb of Emo, Ont.
A celebration of Louise’s life was held Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 at 11 a.m at Knox United Church in Emo, with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
A family graveside service and interment will take place in the Emo Cemetery in Emo at a later date.
