Lorraine Dorothy (Kyle) Lindvall, 84, passed away peacefully, and surrounded by family, on March 29, 2012.
Lorraine was born Dec. 16, 1927 to James Gordon (Pete) and Ivy (Mansell) Kyle in Miami, Man. She was raised and educated in Carman, Man., and later in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was united in marriage to Charles Lindvall on Oct. 11, 1947. They were blessed with five children.
They made their home in International Falls, Virginia, Windom, and Litchfield, Mn. before moving in 2007 to the Twin Cities to be closer to family.
They were married for more than 62 years when Charles passed away in 2010.
Lorraine was a devoted wife and steadfast mother who loved to sew, knit, bake, read, and garden. She took great pride and joy in her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
As a member of the Presbyterian Church, she was active in many church functions, especially mission work.
Lorraine is survived by her five children, Kyle Lindvall of Seattle, Wash., Leslie Wood (Robert) of Moravia, N.Y., Rory Lindvall (Judy) of Windom, Mn., Kristine Lindvall of Mankato, Mn., and Jason Lindvall (Nanette) of Bloomington, Mn.; five grandchildren, Tyler Lindvall, Aurora Wood, Tate Lindvall, Samuel Lindvall, and Jake Lindvall; and two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Lyla Lindvall.
Also surviving are her three brothers, Gordon (Beverly) Kyle and Raymond (Mary Jane) Kyle of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Richard (Laurie) Kyle of Halfmoon Bay, B.C.; brother-in-law, Don Skinner of Winnipeg, Man.; sister-in-law, Helen Kyle of Thunder Bay, Ont.; as well as countless family and friends who were blessed to have known her.
She was predeceased by her husband; parents; two sisters, Lois Calvez and Nola Skinner; one brother, Ron Kyle; as well as several in-laws.
Lorraine touched the lives of many with her smile and generosity, and she maintained her trademark sense of humour until the end.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Evergreen Community Church, 2300 E. 88th St., Bloomington, Mn., 55425.
