Lorne “Smokey” Fadden passed away suddenly Monday, March 12, 2001 at St. Boniface General Hospital after a courageous battle with Blastomycosis.
Smokey leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Eva, of 59 years; along with his eight children, Barbara (Laird) Durling, Dennis (Marlene), William (Linda), Edna (Stan) Neufeld, Lorna (Rod) Kozmenski, Pat (Tim) Benson, Joan (Richard) Mathieu, and Larry (Carol).
Also surviving are his sisters, Joan (Buck) Griffiths, Evelyn Wright, Dorothy Pietila, and Lorraine (Mick) Whiting; as well as his 20 grandchildren, Mark, Nick, Maria, Wendy, Lorna, Lorraine, Ken, Dana, Dan, Rod, Cory, Michelle, Laura, Nicole, Brett, Anthony, Kimberely, Connie, Maureen, and Christopher; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Smokey was predeceased by his parents, William and Annie; sisters, Edna and Maude; brothers, Clarence, Stanley, Ken, and Reg; grandson, Dennis Neufeld; and son-in-law, Kenny Klish.
Smokey loved his wife and family dearly.
Smokey enjoyed maintaining camps on a yearly basis, working his trap line, and enjoying what nature had to offer. He had a very personable and comedic outlook on life, and expressed his feelings and actions through jokes and laughter.
Immediate cremation has taken place.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 17, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Lake of the Woods Chapel in Sioux Narrows, with Pastor Shawn officiating.
