LOLKE (LOUIE) WIERSEMA

Louie Wiersema, of Rainy River, Ont., passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004 at the Rainy River Hospital in Rainy River.
Louie was born Dec. 21, 1929 in Holland and later immigrated with his family to Winnipeg, Man. in April, 1952. From Winnipeg, the Wiersema family moved to Rainy River to farm.
Louie later moved to Atikokan, Ont., where he worked as a milkman and breadman. It was in Atikokan that he met the lovely Elsa Romyn, whom he married Nov. 1, 1954.
With farming still in his blood and with his new family, he purchased a farm in Gameland, Ont., and worked other jobs and was hired on the CNR until retirement.
Louie and Elsa moved to be close to Rainy River in the early 1980s and then to a home in Rainy River in February, 2003.
Louie is survived by his wife, Elsa; and children, Ed (Colleen) of Fort Frances, Ont., Ben (Donna) of Fort Frances, Ont., Dianna (Bill) Bourke of Witt, Ill., Theresa (Bill) Bousfield of Dryden, Ont., Sandra (Stan) Barton of Calgary, Alta., and Les (Audra) of Fort Frances, Ont.
Louie has 13 grandchildren, Jason, Jeff, Andrew, Sean, Ashley, Kimberly, Derek, Julie, Dean, Charles, Rebecca, Richard, and Kayla, who all have fond memories of Grandpa Louie.
Louie also is survived by his brothers and sisters, Fred (Klazien); his twin sister, Thea (Thys) Sinninghe, Annie (Hank) Baker, Bertha (Don) Dieleman, Jean (sister-in-law), Ann VanLeeuwen, John (Hetty), Archie (Eleanor), Corrie (Janice), Eltjo (Dorothy), Henry (Jean), Mary (sister-in-law), Grace (sister-in-law), Lottie (Archie) Schanowki, and Anneke (Nelson) Brown.
Louie also had numerous nieces and nephews.
Louie was predeceased by his parents, Jan (John) and Froukye (nee Van Zwol); brothers, Nick, Harry, and Bernie; and brother-in-law, Bert VanLeeuwen.
Louie enjoyed fishing, winter and summer. He also loved his visits with his family and friends.
Louie will be sadly missed by all.
His funeral was held Friday, Sept. 3, 2004 at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo, Ont.
