LISA MARIE LAROCQUE

It is with sadness that the family of Lisa LaRocque announces her passing at her home on February 28, 2026, with her family at her side.

Lisa was born in Port Arthur, Ontario, on November 10, 1969. Her family moved to Fort Frances in 1970.

Her early education was in Fort Frances schools. She graduated from high school in Milton, Ontario, after which she attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.

Lisa began work in various Kingston businesses until she began work for Corrections Canada at the offices of various penal institutions in the Kingston area. She later began work in the Ottawa offices of Corrections Canada where she became office manager. Her staff supported the work of all the parole officers in Ottawa, Cornwall and the Territory of Nunavut.

Ill health forced her to take early retirement in 2017. In 2020, she returned to Fort Frances to be closer to family.

Lisa loved to be outdoors and animals. Some of her most enjoyable memories included camping and spending time at family properties on Rainy Lake. She was an avid reader where her preferences included biographies, Canadian history and literary classics.

She leaves to mourn her passing: husband James Johanson; her parents Len and Betty Ann LaRocque; her sister Shannon (Jason); her aunt and uncle Vivian and Terry Smith; numerous cousins and her best four-legged buddy, Jake.

Cremation has taken place and at Lisa’s request there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, Lisa would prefer donations be made to Knox United Church, Fort Frances or to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements entrusted to Northridge Funeral Home Ltd., Emo, Ontario.
