Lillian Idella Newman, 86, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Lillian was born Oct. 5, 1929 in Flom Township, Mn. to the late Helmer and Ida Larson.
After graduating from Twin Valley High School, she worked in International Falls, Mn. until she was united in marriage to Earle Newman in Fort Frances on Dec. 4, 1954.
They moved to Atikokan, Ont. in 1955 and lived there for eight years. They moved back to Fort Frances in 1963, where she has lived since.
Lillian was a member of Knox United Church in Fort Frances. She enjoyed oil painting, cross-country skiing, and crocheting, as well as other hobbies.
She was predeceased by her parents, Helmer and Ida Larson; husband, Earle; and sons, Paul and David.
She also was predeceased by three brothers, Melvin, Hjalmer, and Palmer.
Lillian is survived by two sisters, Laura Warnsholz of Austin, Mn. and Marilyn Wentz of Fargo, N.D.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Rev. Barbara Miller will officiate, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers will be Georges Blanc, Paul Noonan, Gerry Parent, Brian Moen, Ian Adams, and Gerard Noonan.
The honourary pallbearers will be close friends and family.
