Suddenly, on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, Lillian Turner (nee Jewett), 64, passed away in St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Man. supported by her loving family.
Lillian was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Mary; a brother, Lloyd; infant sister, Mary Elsie; and sister-in-law, Grace Jewett.
Lillian is survived by her husband of 47 years, Leroy; daughters, Lorraine (Charles), Gail (Doug), and Karen (Bryan); and six grandchildren, Angeline and Ashley Cockle, Stefan and Sheldon Turner, and Trevor and Tyler Stoiber, all of Dryden, Ont.
Also surviving are her brothers, Ed (Linda) and George (Jeanette) of Dryden, Ont., Gordon (Sharon) of Ingersol, Ont., and Ben, Lawrence, and Gary (Bobbi) of Thunder Bay, Ont.; sisters, Bess (Terry) Pastuk of Thunder Bay, Ont. and Margaret (John) Siegers of Winnipeg, Man.; sister-in-law, May Jewett of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family was very important to Lillian as she would put other’s needs ahead of her own, especially when it came to her grandchildren. No matter the time of day or night, she would be there for them, whether it was a ride to a friend’s house or to have a sleep-over at her home.
Lil worked for many years at the tree nursery in Wabigoon and at Weyerhaeuser in the Finishing Room for 20 years, making many friends along the way.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses who helped take care of Lillian in Dryden, and also a big thank-you to Dr. Bob Sonia of Winnipeg.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 at 1 p.m. in First United Church, with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Dryden Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Kurt, Ryan, and Kevin Jewett, Geoff Louttit, Clayton Stang, and Eugene Elias, all nephews of Lillian. The honourary pallbearers were her six grandchildren.
