It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Lillian Maria Anderson (Allan).
She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at her home in Fort Frances, Ont., with family by her side, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Lillian was born in Black Sturgeon, Ont. on Jan. 29, 1935 and began her life learning how to be a hard worker, helping her family with the fisheries. She spent most of her life working in the hospitality industry, serving up many a good meal with her smiles and good cheers.
Mom lived throughout Northwestern Ontario, then moved to Thompson, Man. in 1973. She then spent many years in Lac du Bonnet, Man. until she retired from her job as head cook at the LakeView Hotel.
She spent the remainder of her years in the town that she loved so dearly, Fort Frances.
Her devotion and dedication to her family, sisters, and brothers will be deeply missed. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a dear friend to many.
Her love of country music, and her zany sense of humour, was an attribute that we loved about her character.
Her family would like to offer an invitation to celebrate her life at the Lambertson residence on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 7-9- p.m. (on Highway 11/71 North. Fire #1230. Phone 274-2882).
Memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Couchiching, with Msgr. George Bourguignon officiating.
A luncheon to follow.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Rob Alix, Jody Warnes, Jason and Ron Perreaux, Eric and Josh Anderson, Crystal Lambertson, and Manny and Veronica Melnick.
The honourary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren, Jacob Warnes, Mylo Anderson, and MacKenzie Horde, and good friend, Robert Bombay.
Lillian leaves behind her children, Don (Val) Anderson of Sioux Lookout, Ont., Lana (Bill) Schumacher of Will’s Point, Tex., Delsie (Erik) Lambertson of Fort Frances, Ont., and Lesa Melnick of Winnipeg, Man., and their father, Ron Anderson.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Rob Alix of Winnipeg, Man., Jody Warnes of Ottawa, Ont., Jason and Ron Perreaux of Winnipeg, Man., Eric and Josh Anderson of Sioux Lookout, Ont., Crystal Lambertson of Fort Frances, Ont., and Manny and Veronica Melnick of Winnipeg, Man.; and great-grandchildren, Mylo Anderson and MacKenzie Horde of Sioux Lookout, Ont., and Jacob Warnes of Ottawa, Ont.
Lillian also is survived by her sisters, Anne (Milo) Olson and Ethel Gustafson of Fort Frances, Ont., and “sister” Lorraine (Glenn) Ecklund of Thunder Bay, Ont.; along with many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including Robert Bombay and David (Dado) Crowe.
Her love for animals requires us to mention Koko, Shadow, Cali, and Baby.
She was predeceased by her mother, Veronica Allan (Jourdain); father, Alfred Allan; sisters, Laura, Gladys, Elsie, Evora, Florence, and Pearl; and brothers, Fred and Bob.
She had a deep faith and trust in Jesus, and taught her family to trust and believe, as well. Her care and concern towards others was a testament to her beliefs.
“Be glad for all God is planning for you. Be patient in trouble, and always be prayerful.” Romans 12:12
“Oh where oh where could my momma be
The Lord took her away from me
She’s gone to heaven so I’ve got to be good
So I can see my momma when I leave this world.”
XXOO! We love you, Mom! XXOO
