LILLIAN DORIS CALLAGHAN

Lillian Callaghan, our beloved mother, was gently delivered into the arms of her Creator on Monday, June 8, 2009 in Lethbridge, Alta. at the age of 83 after a long and courageous struggle.
Lil, or “Doris” as she was known to her brothers and sisters, was born in Dryden, Ont. in 1925 to the late George Dagg and Lillian Franklin.
In 1944, she married Dan “Kelly” Callaghan, and they moved to his hometown of Fort Frances, Ont., where they raised their children.
During the 1950s and ’60s, Lil worked as office manager at Stedman’s store. In 1970, she moved to Lethbridge, where she continued working as office manager at Macleod’s until her retirement in 1983.
Lil was predeceased by her husband, Dan Callaghan; her beloved sons, Tim and Keith; brothers, Gerald Dagg and George Dagg; sisters, Flo Hawes, Bea Hamilton, and Marg Robinson; and by long-time partner, Willie Anderson.
She is survived by children, Tom Callaghan (Sue) of Lethbridge, Alta., Carol Carruthers (Gerald) of Lethbridge, Alta., and Jann Callaghan Cullen (Francis) of Surrey, B.C.; brothers, Ed Franklin (Eve) and Frank Dagg (Bev); and sister, Muriel Powell.
She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Kurt, Karrie, Kellie, Penny, Dan, Myra, Tim, Cody, Shanna, Casey, Rory, and Seán; 10 great-grandchildren, Thomas, Shianne, Dakota, Sierra, Jordan, Kayla, Keisha, Quianna, Parker, and Lillianah; and one great-great-grandchild, Malaki.
Also surviving are her step-children, Vicky, Robbie, and Howie Anderson.
Lil’s remains will be interred in a simple, graveside service on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances, next to her son, Tim Callaghan.
Friends and relatives are welcome to join the family in saying goodbye to Lil.
