It is with great sorrow that we mourn the passing of Wayne Bruyere, 57, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, on Friday, April 4, 2003 at his residence in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Wayne was born Dec. 21, 1945 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late Rose Marie and Phillip Bruyere. He spent his entire life in the Fort Frances and Couchiching First Nation, Ont. areas until moving to Thunder Bay in 1998, where he received dialysis.
Over the years, he worked in the maintenance department at Nanicost, and at Rainycrest Home for the Aged and for the C.N.R.
Wayne also was an avid fisherman who worked as a guide at Tang of the North Lodge. When he was not working as a guide, Hoppy loved to take his nieces and nephews out on the lake to fish and hunt.
Wayne’s other interests included watching his nieces and nephews play hockey and baseball. Wayne also loved photography and would enjoy attending Pow-Wows.
Wayne is survived by his sisters, Eleanor Bruyere and Melvina Morrisseau, both of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., Karen and husband, Dennis Epler, of Chesopeke, Va., and Phyllis Johnson of Pheonix, Az.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne was predeceased by his mother and father, Phillip and Rose Marie Bruyere; sisters, Joyce Robinson and Amelia LaBelle; uncle, Emil Morrisseau; and his nephews, Clifford, Faron, and Bradley.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 10, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Couchiching First Nation. Deacon Elmer Mainville will officiate, with interment in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Couchiching First Nation.
Friends may visit Wednesday, April 9, 2003 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Parish prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Marty Morrisseau, Jessie Morrisseau, Chris Morrisseau, Steve Morrisseau, Gary Adams, and Everett Jourdain.
Honourary pallbearers will be Mike Bruyere, Steve Mainville, Wayne Morrisseau, Harold Lyons, John Lyons Jr., and Gabe Bruyere.
