LESLIE JAMES WARD

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our brother, Les Ward, on Friday, Feb. 27, 2004 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. following a lengthy illness.
Les was born Jan. 29, 1931 in Fort Frances, where he attended elementary and secondary schools.
After leaving school in 1947 at the age of 16, he went to work for the CNR, remaining with them until his retirement.
Les enjoyed the company of his many friends, who often came to visit him to play cards. He also enjoyed those years when he was still able to curl.
Les was a very generous person, especially when it came to his nieces and nephews. They all loved Uncle Les and he loved them in return. He was very much interested in their activities, whether in school or in sports.
He was predeceased by his parents, Sidney and Florence; nephew, Richard Ward; niece, Nancy Kerr; and brother-in-law, Charles Lawrence.
Les leaves to mourn his sisters, Olive Eisenhauer (Irvin), Gladys Kerr (Don), Marjorie Smeeth (Bert), and Violet Lawrence; brothers, Al (Ollie), Stan (Millie), Bob (Elsie), Syd (Joan), and Don (Sybil); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances, with Marietta Marshall officiating.
If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Box 444, Fort Frances, Ont., or the Knox United Church General Fund.
