Leslie Clifford Bruyere, born April 5, 1945 in Fort Frances, Ont., went to be with his Creator, and to be reunited with family members that have gone before him, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, Mn. on Feb. 15, 2004.
Leslie was predeceased by his parents, Clifford (1975) and Amelia (1999); and by two brothers, James Keith (1972) and Glenn (1985). Leslie also was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, and two nephews.
Leslie leaves to mourn his passing his daughter, Lisa Gauthier (Don) and their children, Johnathon, Don Jr., Michael, Steven, Stephanie, Brian, and Brittany of Timmins, Ont.; and his son, Clifford Bruyere (Tammy) and their children, Warren, Rayanne, Justice, Jenny, and Joshua of Thunder Bay, Ont.
Also surviving are his brothers, Russell (Alice) of Payallup, Wash., Delray (Cindy) of Mundare, Alta., and Kevin and Guy of Edmonton, Alta.; sisters, MaryLou Parks (Terry) of Fort Frances, Ont., Sharon Strachan (Murray), Pauline Perreault (Greg), Laura Bruyere (David), and Tina Wilson (Mike Roy), all of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., and Holly Cogger (Vernon) of Fort Frances, Ont.
Leslie also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Close friends in the U.S. will miss him dearly.
Leslie has resided in International Falls, Mn. for 25 years and made his home there. He loved to play cards, dance, and tinker with the guitar. Les also thoroughly enjoyed visits from his siblings and had some cute memory or joke to share.
Les loved the company of his friends and especially talked fondly of his twin cousins, Joan and Julie, along with special friend, Alice.
Leslie kept close to his heart his siblings, nieces, nephews (great), and special friends by carrying on his person a wallet overflowing with pictures of them.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service for Les will be held Friday, Feb. 20, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Couchiching First Nation, with Deacon Elmer Mainville officiating.
Luncheon to follow.
Honourary pallbearers will be Alice Patch, Phyllis Jameus, Brian Tucker, Clarence Jourdain, Joan Peters, and Julie Patch.
A private family burial to be held at a later date.
