It is with great sadness that the family of Leonard Shine announces his passing on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Leonard was born July 2, 1936 in Devlin, Ont. to Alvin and Mary Shine. He grew up in Devlin and lived in the area most of his life.
He was united in marriage to Marilyn Cooper on Oct. 17, 1959 and although they had separated, they still were close and spoke every day.
Leonard worked at Ford for more than 32 years before starting his own hobby shop. He loved to tinker with old cars and was grateful to make it a career.
He also was outgoing and loved to socialize. He enjoyed his last years at Rainycrest, attending the activities and visiting with Donna and his many friends.
Leonard was predeceased by his parents; wife, Marilyn; and siblings, Jean, Helen, Doris, Lyle, Melvin, and James.
Leonard leaves behind his daughter, Patti and husband, Mark LaFleur, of Devlin, Ont.; son, Larry Shine and wife, Kari, of Dryden, Ont.; grandchildren, Andrea and husband, Travis Kennett, Jeff LaFleur and wife, Amy, Kim LaFleur and Malcolm Daley, and Joshua Shine and Ashley Shine; and great-grandchildren, Brooke, Derek, Tyler, Presley, and Colt.
He also is survived by his brothers, Gerald and Harvey Shine; sister, Violet (Don) Doucette; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family interment will take place at a later date.
