LEONARD ANDY—NAH NAH BUSH

Leonard Andy-Nah Nah Bush of Big Grassy First Nation, suddenly passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Leonard was born on May 8, 1945 in Rainy River, Ontario. He was 65 years old. He lived all his life in Big Grassy River First Nation, Ontario, and grew up on Lake of the Woods. He then passed his knowledge on to his nephews.
Leonard was an honest, compassionate and caring individual. Family was most important. He took care of his mother, Lila, and brother, Colin.
Leonard worked hard all his life. He took pride in everything he did from trapping to commercial fishing and hunting.
He also worked as a guide for several on the lake camps. Leonard will be missed as a son, brother, uncle and friend.
He was predeceased by one brother, Brian Andy Sr.; one sister, Carol Andy; his father, Pete Andy; nephew, Ashley Andy and niece, Jennifer Andy.
He is survived by his mother, Lila Andy and brother, Colin Andy both of Big Grassy River First Nation, ON.; nephews, Alan Gibbons (Laurie), and Peter Gibbons of Big Grassy River First Nation, ON.; Bryan “Pete” Andy (Tania), and Waylon Gibbons (Falcon) of Fort Frances, ON.; nieces Melissa Archie (Robin) of Big Grassy River First Ontario, and Krystal Andy of Fort Frances, ON.; as well as his great nephews and nieces; and numerous cousins and friends.
A traditional service was held on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Big Grassy First Nation Community Hall. Elder Steve Johnson officiated with interment in Morson Cemetery in Morson, Ontario.
A funeral wake was held from 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Big Grassy First Nation Community Hall.
Active pallbearers were Jeff Morrison, Marshal Morrison, Robin Archie, Larry Gibbons, Tom Jack and Ryan Jack.
Honourary pallbearers were Eddie Andy, Curtis Copenace, Brian Major Sr. and James Comegan.
