Lawrence Robert Stefanick
It is with great sadness to say goodbye to our beloved Husband, Dad, Papa, Brother, Uncle, Co-worker and Friend. Larry passed away March 20, 2007.
Larry was born May 1, 1945 to Nicholas Stefanick and Eileen Cherney in Kenora, Ontario. He spent his younger years in Kenora and Dryden growing up with family and often spoke of the good times with lots of good Ukrainian food and spending time caring for his younger siblings.
Larry began working alongside his father “Nick” for George Armstrong Co. in 1963 and remained with the company and more specifically “The Crusher” for a total of 44 years till his passing. In his employers’ words,
“he was the most loyal employee; he never missed work and was never late.”
Larry was united in marriage on January 15, 1966 in Fort Frances to Sylvia Ronmark, together Larry and Sylvia raised Dale, Patricia and Kimberly. Although his dedication as an employee was remarkable his passion was his family.
His favourite times were catching fish with his family at the cabin on Big Sawbill Lake, he loved to be surrounded (the more the merrier) with loved ones, a crackling fi re and in the background country music on the radio and looking out at the lake “what a beautiful view” he’d say.
He enjoyed the things in life we often take for granted, like an early morning sunrise, Sylvia’s good home cooked meals, wood stove fire, and good conversation.
When Larry and Sylvia were graced with grandchildren, Larry was overjoyed. He lived to spend time with them, whether it was a project with Nick, fishing with Katelyn, or chasing Tanner, Papa had no favourites. He showed them a love like no other that they cherish and will carry with them forever.
Larry also had an extended family–his friends. Through the years, so many friends, co-workers and past co-workers sat around the kitchen table over a game of cards, food, drinks, laughs and memories.
Larry is survived by wife Sylvia, daughters Patty Stefanick and partner, Dave Mutz, children Nicholas, Katelyn, Heather (Mike Goodin) and Nadine; daughter Kimberly and husband Jason Williamson and son Tanner. Also surviving are his brothers Peter (Cindy) Leviski, daughter Sheri, George (Linda) Stefanick, and daughters Val-Marie and Nicole, Joey Stefanick and sister Cathy Gala, as well as nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Eileen, son Dale and sister Bev.
A gathering will be held in celebration of Larry’s life at the Royal Canadian Legion in Fort Frances on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at 11 a.m., Rev. John Churnaby officiating.
Honourary pallbearers will be Nicholas Stefanick, Ray Skirten, Doug Desaulniers, Dale Kilby, Amil Alexiuk, Larry Armstrong, Shane Armstrong, James Armstrong, John Dustin, BarryRogers, Paul Chabot, Rod Cawston, and Ken Carmody.
