LAWRENCE (LAZAR) TKACHUK
Lawrence Tkachuk, 80, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Thursday, March 1, 2007 at his residence.
Lawrence was born in Gardenton, Man. on Feb. 16, 1927 to Nick and Lena Tkachuk.
He leaves behind his son, Robert (Mary-Beth); wife, Dorothy; stepchildren, Rob (Missy) Gurniak, Roxanne (John) Dustin, Joan Ronmark (Bob), Gail (Ed) McTavish, Dave Gurniak, Dwayne Gurniak, and Micheline (Harvey) Vien; 20 step-grandchildren; and numerous step great-grandchildren.
Lawrence was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Lena Tkachuk; sister, Olga Shaw; nephews, Nicky and Russell; niece, Patty-Sue; and stepson-in-law, Richard Ronmark.
Lawrence began work at Rogers Fruit and later Dominion Fruit in Fort Frances, ending his working days in the woodroom at the mill at the age of 62.
In Lawrence’s earlier years, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing in the Lake Despair area, hanging with the guys at Roger’s Fruit, and the trips to Minneapolis to watch NHL hockey.
Later in life, Lawrence enjoyed the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays on TV and his trips to Warroad.
He also loved dogs and will be missed by his pal, Dusty.
A private family service was held Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Jill Warner officiating.
Cremation has taken place at the Rainy River Cremation Service and interment will be held at the Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
