LAWRENCE C. CALDER

Lawrence C. Calder passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005 at an adult foster care home in St. Helens, Ore. He was 78.
Mr. Calder was born May 1, 1927 to Earl and Mina (Smith) Calder in Devlin, Ont. He worked for the Canadian National Railroad before serving in the U.S. Army from 1945-47.
He married Doris Engstrom in 1952 in Fort Frances, Ont. The couple moved to International Falls, Mn., then to St. Helens in 1967.
Mr. Calder worked at Boise Cascade as an electrician for 38 years until his retirement in 1989.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Elks Travel Club, and was a past member of the Credit Union board of directors. Early on, he also was involved in Cub Scouts as a Cubmaster.
He enjoyed playing pool, and fishing and square dancing for many years.
Mr. Calder is survived by his wife, Doris Calder, of St. Helens, Ore.; sons, Bruce Calder of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and Jim Calder of West Linn, Ore.
He also is survived by a sister, Marion Moore of Scarborough, Ont.; and three granddaughters, Brittany, Danielle, and Alexa.
A celebration of his life was held Monday, Oct. 24, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Columbia Funeral Home.
Private family interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore.
