LAURIE RIDLER

Laura (Laurie) Ellen Ridler, nee Hopkins, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Thursday, March 27, 2003 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.
Laurie was born Oct. 1, 1957 in Matheson, Ont. to Neil and Martha Hopkins. She moved with her family to Thunder Bay, Ont. at an early age, where she attended school.
She spent much of her working life as a waitress in hotels and nightclubs in Thunder Bay and Atikokan, Ont.
Laurie enjoyed cooking and baking for friends and family. She also enjoyed the out of doors immensely, often going to camp with Jim—even picking cones on occasion.
Their favourite indoor activity was Bingo. She and Jim often could be found spending their evenings at the Bingo Hall.
Laurie leaves behind her husband, James (Jim) Scott of Fort Frances, Ont.; her two daughters, Jessie Ridler of Thunder Bay, Ont. and Shannon Ridler of Fort Frances, Ont.; and her mother, Martha Hopkins of Atikokan, Ont.
Also surviving are four siblings, Penny (George) Smith of Thunder Bay, Ont., Mike (Gloria) Hopkins of Thunder Bay, Ont., Don (Debbie) Hopkins of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Jim (Zandra) Hopkins of Calgary, Alta.; sisters-in-law, Clara Scott of Surrey, B.C., Ruth Scott of New Westminster, B.C., Ann Oster of British Columbia, and Alex Scott of British Columbia; brother-in-law, Jake Scott of Emo, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Laurie was predeceased by her father, Neil Hopkins, formerly of Thunder Bay, Ont.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at 4 p.m. at the East End Hall in Fort Frances.
