LAURETTA CECILE WOODGATE

It is with great sorrow that the family of Lauretta Cecile Woodgate, 75, announces her passing on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Lauretta was born July 12, 1931 in Dance Township, Ont. to Peter and Kathleen Venne. She had lived in the Devlin area all of her life.
Lauretta was united in marriage to David Woodgate on June 2, 1949 and together they raised seven children. She worked at the Circle D in Emo for several years after her son, Rod, purchased the restaurant.
She was a very outgoing and social person. She loved to visit with family and friends, whether it was in person or on the phone.
Her family was fond of teasing that she had so much to say that the only time they could get a word in was while she was sleeping, if she wasn’t still talking then, too.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Dave of Devlin, Ont.; children, Ernie (Marie) of Lethbridge, Alta., Rodney (Wendy) of Devlin, Glen of Fairview, Alta., Sandy (Leslie) Fletcher of Red Lake, Ont., Bruce (Wanda) and Bill (Lori), all of Burriss, Ont., and Brenda (Sean) Webb of Red Lake, Ont.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her brothers, Marty (Josie), Wilfred (Darlene), and Gerald (Gertie) Venne; sisters, Beatrice Bolger, Kay (Len) Shannon, and Rosalyn Plummridge; sisters-in-law, Grace Oldford, Edith (Allan) Pattison, Violet (Gordon) Grice, Marion Venne, and Leona Venne; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lauretta was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Kathleen Venne; granddaughter, Glenda; daughter-in-law, Mary; sister, Irene Doucette; brothers, Peter Venne and Art Venne; father-in-law, Dave Woodgate; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Woodgate; and brothers-in-law, Martin Bolger, Bud Oldford, Paul Plumridge, Vern Smith, and Henry Doucette.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Devlin Hall in Devlin, with Pastor Ken Johnson officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
The honourary pallbearers were all of Lauretta’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 920 Frenette Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3N4 or the Canadian Cancer Society, P.O. Box 444, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3M8.
