LAURANCE CATHERALL

It is with the greatest sorrow that the family of Laurance Catherall announces his unexpected passing on Friday, Sept. 30, 2005 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Laurance was born Sept. 24, 1935 in London, England.
Laurance was predeceased by his wife and love of his life, Mary Margaret Catherall, on De, 11, 2002; his mother, May Frances Catherall of Fort Frances; and father, William Augustus Catherall of England.
Finishing school in England, achieving the ultimate award of a Queen’s Scout, Laurance spent three years in the Antarctic with the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey on expedition, after which he moved to Canada.
His job experiences varied from working in the bush in Quebec and at a General Electric plant in Peterborough to owning a lodge in Omemee, Ont. His job with the Ontario Ministry of Tourism took him to several locations across Ontario until settling in Fort Frances.
While in Fort Frances, he switched to the Ministry of Indian Affairs and then finally to Pwi-Do-Goo-Zing Ne-Yaa-Zhing Advisory Services.
A very private person, Laurance’s greatest joys in life were his wife and children. He always instilled in his children to be respectful to others and to nature. He loved being outside enjoying one of his great passions, fishing.
Later, you caught him watching a good game of hockey, football, tennis, or baseball depending upon the season.
Mourning his loss are his children, son, Scott Catherall of Fort Frances, Ont.; and daughters, Christine (David) Church of Haultain, Ont. and their children, Ian (Sandy), Todd, and Jeff; Lynn (Tom) Major of Headingley, Man. and their children, Mackenzie and Jessica; and Susan (Philip) Jones of Devlin, Ont. and their children, Reece and Blake.
Also surviving are his Aunt Kit andUncle Ed Catherall of Peterborough, Ont.; brother, Roy (Sandi) Catherall of Cranbrook, B.C.; brother-in-law, Charles (Leta) DeMarsh of Corunna, Ont.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Pastor Garth Clifford of the Free Methodist Church officiating.
