It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Antonia Cerutti, who passed away courageously Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002 with her family by her side.
Laura was born July 25, 1921 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late Gino and Maria Coran. She moved to Fort William, Ont. as a young woman, where she met and on June 22, 1946 married the late Fred (Frinds) Cerutti.
Laura enjoyed travelling, opera music, and her weekly bridge games with special friends. But her greatest joy was her family and especially her grandchildren, with whom she left many wonderful memories.
Laura was a member of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Ladies Venet Society. Everyone who met and knew her remarked on her energy and spirit.
Laura will be greatly missed by her three children, Joanne O’Brien and husband, Larry, and Paula LaBerge and husband, Lou, and son, Raymond; and her loving grandchildren, Kelly, Christopher, and Ginny O’Brien, Amber LaBerge-Shwetz and husband, Dan, and Jesse LaBerge; and great-grandson, Caden Shwetz.
Laura also will be sadly missed by her brothers, Rudolph Coran and wife, Barbara, and Ray Coran and wife, Lyla; sisters; Olympia Benassi and husband, Joe, and Antonia (Toni) Edgett; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Coran.
Laura was predeceased by her husband, Frinds (Jan. 16, 1986); brothers, Guido (Rocky) and Dovillio (Dove) Coran; sister-in-law, Helen Coran; and brother-in-law, Ray Edgett.
A Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Thunder Bay, Ont. Interment was held at Mountainview Cemetery following the mass.
If friends desire, in memoriam donations to the Thunder Bay District Humane Society or Thunder Bay Regional Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
A tree will be planted in her memory in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove dedication service, which will take place June 29, 2003.
