It is with a great sense of loss that the family of Larry Edward Tucker announces his sudden passing on Friday, March 3, 2006 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Man.
Larry was born Dec. 16, 1954 in Fort Frances, Ont. to George and Nellie Tucker. He had lived in this area all of his life.
As a young man, he worked at Bill Fontana’s Houseboat and then continued on with his father and brother on the Hallett. After that, he worked at Rainy Lake Sports Company for his brother.
He was an operational manger of the Fort Frances Jail.
Larry was very active with minor hockey and Hockey Canada, which he retired from last year. He also was famous for singing and playing the guitar at parties with his family and friends.
He enjoyed travelling and recently had returned from Mexico.
Larry loved to be on the lake, going fishing and hunting, and sharing this experience with his grandchildren.
He leaves behind his wife, Laurie; children, Jason (Jessica), Heidi (Dave) Compardo and their daughters, Lara and Riah, and Jon (Shantelle) and their daughter, Rian; stepson, Jake Kennedy; and stepdaughter-in-law, Mellisa, and her sons, Nicholas and Nathan.
Also surviving are his brother, Don (Kathi); sisters, Alice (Pat) Cullen, Laura (Claude) Degagne, and Betty (Ed) Denny; father- and mother-in-law, Jack (Colleen) Earley; sister-in-law, Patty (Doug) Hasburgen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was predeceased by his mother, Nellie Tucker, on Oct. 24, 1992; father, George Tucker, on June 24, 2005; and stepson, Craig Kennedy, in November, 2003.
A mass will be held Thursday, March 9, 2006 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Francis Pudicherry officiating.
Cremation has taken place in Winnipeg.
The honourary pallbearers will be Murray Degagne, Rob Caldwell, Kelly Jolicouer, Chris Bonner-Vickers, Harvey Flamand, Gary Michichuk, Curtis Perrault, and Mike Graham.
