Curr, Larisa

It is with great sadness the family of Larisa Anna Curr announces her passing on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019 at the La Verendrye General Hospital with family by her side.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1956 to Michael and Anna Zaleschuk in Saskatoon, Sask.
The family moved to Yorkton when she was a small child and then to Winnipeg, where she completed high school. After high school, she attended the University of Winnipeg completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Geomorphology.
Larisa met her husband Jim while attending University and they were united in marriage on Sept. 8, 1979.
Together, they moved to Fort Frances in 1982, settling to raise their children. Both of her children, Elissa and Andrew, were born here.
She worked at the Harbourage restaurant for a few years before joining Fort Frances District Association of Community Living. There she worked with the staff and residents for over 30 years.
Larisa was active in the community through her work and through her personal life; she was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 Ladies Auxiliary, St. George’s Orthodox Church, and served with the public library board for nine years, including a three year term as president.
She loved to spend time in her garden, hosting friends and family at her home and attending activities within the community. She particularly enjoyed going to local teas, wearing one of her many hats.
Larisa leaves behind her husband, Jim; daughter, Elissa and husband Steven Haichert; son, Major Andrew Curr and his wife, Heidi; grandson, Kingston Curr; mother, Anna, and husband, Walter Kaminski; father, Michael Zaleschuk; siblings, Tim Zaleschuk and his wife, Debbie, Evan Zaleschuk, Laura and her husband, Chris Molinar, and Tanya Zaleschuk and her husband, Jason Crockett; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019 at 7 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ont. Parish prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 23, 2019 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Eugene Maximiuk and Fr. Bohdan Statkevych officiating at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers will be Frank Maraj, Dr. Bruce Lidkea, Dr. Jeremy McGuire, Kevin Kennedy, Frank Sheppard and Terry Munn.
Honourary pallbearers are Robin McCormick, Margie Gibson, Jane Tibbetts, Corrie Thompson, and Kim LePine.
Flowers are appreciated as Larisa loved flowers.
In memoriam donations may be made to the St. George’s Orthodox Church or the Salvation Army.
