With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Krista Lee Pruys, who lived fully from September 27, 1974, to September 27, 2025.
Krista was a remarkable soul who lit up the room with her beautiful smile, and she made lasting friends wherever she went. She embraced life with curiosity, courage and joy.
Krista was born in Fort Frances, Ontario. She figure skated for many years, coached and volunteered with Special Olympics for many years. She was also Miss Congeniality in the Miss Fun in the Sun pageant (her efforts to win some money for University)

Krista became a teacher, starting her career in Northern Manitoba, then in Northwestern Ontario. In the early 2000’s, she moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 2002, Krista married Shane Guimond, and in 2004 they welcomed their daughter, Jade Guimond. Krista and Shane parted ways four years later.
Throughout the years, Krista worked hard to provide a great life for her daughter. She continued her education all the way up until 2023, when she earned her third master’s degree. Krista taught for many years in the classroom and worked more recently in the role of a math coach.
In 2022, Krista met the love of her life, Michael Ryall. Krista and Mike enjoyed three amazing years together. Those that knew them well commented that they had never seen Krista or Mike happier.
Krista is remembered with love by her partner Michael Ryall (Colby, John-Michael); daughter Jade Guimond; stepson Jonah Guimond; father Herman Pruys (Jan); sister Melanie Allen (Stewart); nephews Marcus, Brent, Matt, and David; special friend Karen Mills and her son, William; the ‘Six Pack’, ‘The Chickens’, and ‘The 5 of Us’, and her forever friends in Fort Frances.
Krista was predeceased by her mom Sandra Mae Pruys; grandparents Frans and Maria Pruys, Norman and Shirley Huntley; cousin Shawna Pynten; and niece Heidi George.
A Celebration of Life was held on Sunday, October 4 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen Street. Instead of mourning, we invite all who knew Krista to gather, share stories, and honor the joy she brought into our lives. An additional Celebration of Life will be held in Fort Frances at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society, to a charity of your choice, or simply share a kind act with someone in need.
Though we say goodbye, we carry forward Krista’s joy for life, love, and light.
