Kirsti Bouchard

Kirsti Bouchard, 85, of Fort Frances, Ont., formerly of Mudge’s Camp, Mine Centre, Ont., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006.
She was born on March 29, 1921 in Haapajarva, Finland, immigrating to Canada with her family in 1929. The family settled in Thunder Bay, Ont. As a young woman, she was very active in the Lutheran ministry.
She was united in marriage to John Bouchard in 1945, and in 1947 they joined the staff at Mudge’s Camp just south of Mine Centre. In 1955, Kirsti and John purchased the camp and she was there until 2001, when she moved to Fort Frances.
During her summers, Kirsti loved working at the camp, visiting with guests and enjoying the outdoors. Her winters at the camp were quiet. She was a self-taught artist who enjoyed painting and writing.
Kirsti sold numerous paintings to resort guests, and many of her friends and family have received beautiful pictures as gifts.
In the mid-1970, she and John started spending their winters in Florida.
Kirsti was a hard-working and determined woman who never gave up until the job was done. She was an excellent cook and baker, and with John’s help, she prepared meals the guests enjoyed and always complimented.
Kirsti is survived by her husband, John Bouchard; and son, Dennis Bouchard and his wife, Brenda, all of Mine Centre, Ont.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ansgarius and Verra Tervakoski; and sister, Martha Kangus.
A private family service was held.
