KIM ROACH

Kim Roach, 56, of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., passed away suddenly in her home on Sunday, April 20, 2014.
She was born Dec. 21, 1957 to the late Wallace “Swede” Bruyere and Shirley Irene Bruyere (Minor).
Kim grew up on Couchiching with her many brothers, sisters, cousins, and friends. Kim met Pat in 1976, and the two of them left Fort Frances for Alberta shortly after she gave birth to twin boys in 1978.
After deciding she wanted to pursue a career in the health field, she and Pat moved to Winnipeg, Man., where she began her education. She completed her schooling in Red Deer, Alta., where she graduated as a Registered Nurse.
While attaining her degree in Red Deer, she also gave birth to her third son in 1986.
In 1987, Kim and Pat, moved back home to Couchiching First Nation. It was there they built their family home together, had their daughter in 1991, and united in marriage on Sept. 19, 1992.
Kim pursued her profession in nursing at La Verendrye Hospital for 18 years. In 2005, Kim went to carry on her career for Couchiching First Nation as a community health nurse.
She often was known for her compassion and her kindness while providing care to others. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by her husband, children, grandchildren, family, and many friends.
Kim is survived by her beloved husband, Pat Roach; three children, John (Angela), Michael (Ashley), and Sally; and grandchildren—the light of her life—Rianna, Abby, and Johnny, whom she treasured dearly.
Also surviving are her mother, Shirley; brothers Wallace “Dozer” (Agnes), Wesley, Keith (Carol), and Chris; sisters, Valerie (Jack), Colleen (Ted), and Patty-Ann (Doug); father-in-law, Patrick Roach Sr.; and brothers-in-law, Dennis (Megan) and John; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Don), Gail (Ron), Bonnie, Terril “Bug” (Dave), and Tracy.
Kim also is survived by her many nieces and nephews; and her numerous friends and relatives.
She was predeceased by her son, Patrick; father, Wallace “Swede”; brother, Sandford (Laurie); nephews, Dave and Jonah; mother-in-law, Delores “Dolly”; brothers-in-law, Milton “Rocky” and Michael “Blacky”; sisters-in-law, Elaine (Ed Sr.) and Jan; as well as her many aunts and uncles.
A visitation will be held Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will take place Monday, April 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Couchiching First Nation.
The pallbearers will be Jesse Calder, James McKee, Clayton Windigo, Lawrence Simmons, Jay Bruyere, and Ed Calder Sr.
The honourary pallbearers will be Trish Mainville, Jackie Windigo, Jennifer Gustafson, Kristine McCaig, Laurie Bruyere, Debby and Diane Roach, Nadine Johnson, Carrie Steeves, and Bonnie Simmons.
In memoriam donations may be forwarded to the Canadian Cancer Society or Our Lady of Lourdes parish.
